Friends of Galena Public Library are once again presenting a challenge for the community’s fine artists: “Bloom Brightly” to create one-of-a-kind terra cotta flowerpots.

How does it work? Upon request, each artist will be presented with an 8-inch terra cotta flowerpot. The artist will have between now and January 15 to use media of their choosing to embellish their pot and make it “Bloom Brightly.”

The creative challenge will be a hand-in-hand complement to the February 6, 2011 Hearts & Art event during which time the “Bloom Brightly” artist pots will be auctioned. Original, artist-rendered cards themed for Valentine’s Day or any occasion are also being requested for donation. All proceeds from the event benefit the Galena Public Library.

Interested artists may contact Linda Lynn at 815-777-6161 or unembellished flower pots can be picked up at the Library front desk. For additional information about the Hearts & Art fundraiser or programs offered at the Galena Public Library, please call 815-777-0200 or visit http://www.galenalibrary.org.
